Quick Tip: Customize Your Excel 2007 Quick Access Toolbar

Open Excel 2007 and hit the down arrow next to the Quick Access Toolbar. Notice the toolbar is now below the ribbon, and the items have been added to the toolbar. This is definitely a simple tip, but I’ve found it’s very useful.

If you’d rather see the subject line as the top line when using the condensed view in Outlook, you could make a simple tweak to show the subject line on the top, and the from address on the bottom. I’ve found that this helps when you get a lot of emails from the same people, since you’re free to see what the message is about more easily. Clean Up Past Notification Icons in Windows Vista

Note that this will remove any controls you had set for the icons. Just look at all the items in the list… I don’t even have some of those applications installed anymore. Select both of them and delete them. Now go to the File menu, choose New Task and punch in in explorer into the open box. Hit enter, and explorer should restart itself. Note that some icons might disappear entirely until you reboot your box....

Remove Synaptics Touchpad Icon from System Tray

There’s almost no benefit to this icon, so it needs to go. The icon comes in two varieties that you’ve probably seen. Just right-poke the icon, and choose Pointing machine Properties from the menu. On the gear controls tab, you’ll find a Tray Icon section. Choose the Remove tray icon from taskbar radio button, and it’ll immediately be gone.
