Disable User Account Control(UAC) For Administrators Only

Note: Disabling UAC will lead to a less secure system, so be warned. Just pop in in secpol.msc into the Start menu search box and hit enter. Change the setting to “Elevate without prompting”. You should be all done. Just download, extract and double-press the registry hack file to add the information into the registry.

Hide Desktop Icon Text on Windows 7 or Vista

A good example of this is the icon for Internet Explorer. We’re all really used to it by now, and the text just makes it ugly. Just right-press the shortcut, and choose Rename. it’s possible for you to’t use the number keys right above the keyboard, they won’t work. For the next shortcut, you’ll have to enter the combination twice (Alt+255, Alt+255). For the third, 3 times… you get the idea....

Hide the Recycle Bin Icon Text on Windows Vista

The recycle bin is really obvious. With a little registry patch, we can easily remove the text. Justdownload the registry patch, unzip, and then double-press the file. Move the Public Folder in Windows Vista

With some registry editing, we can move the location of the folder. If you smack the Public link on the Favorite Links, you’ll see the list of folders. you might copy them to a new location. First copy all the folders inside of the current Public folder into the new D:\Public folder. Browse down to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList You should see a key called Public. Reboot, and your public folder will now be moved....

Speed up Windows Vista Start Menu Search By Limiting Results

To configure this setting, right hit the Start button and select Properties. tap the Customize button, and you’re free to scroll down to the Search checkboxes. For best results, change the Search files radio button to “Don’t search for files”. The start menu is too small to find files anyway. This will speed up searching immensely.
