As of September 29th, Google willno longer supportthe original Nest Skills for Alexa system.
This change will prevent Alexa from communicating with Nest hardware in older smart homes.
Again, this change only affects older smart homes.
If you began using Nest products with Alexa after August 2019, you’re good.
Those who have already migrated their Nest account to Google are also in the clear.
That said, you might still use the old Nest app after performing this migration.
Some smart home owners will be blindsided by this development.
It replaced theoriginal Nest Alexa skill, though it left the skill intact for legacy users.
A four-year deadline is pretty generous, especially for a task that takes just 10 or 15 minutes.
That said, you may need to recreate some routines after completing this process.
