Why Can’t I Factory Reset My PC?

This corruption happens for various reasons, includingviruses and malicious apps.

This will handle the issue with various core system features, including the option thatresets your PC.

Choose “Run as Administrator."

In the “User Account Control” prompt, choose “Yes.”

When that’s done,reboot your PCand retry resetting your PC.

To do that on Windows 11, head into tweaks > System > Recovery.

Run the DISM command.

Then, next to “Advanced Startup,” click “Restart Now.”

Then, in the open prompt, choose “Restart Now.”

In Windows 10, navigate to options > Update & Security > Recovery.

Select “Restart Now."

Here, in the “Advanced Startup” section, click “Restart Now.”

In the open menu, navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options and click “Startup Repair.”

This service may be experiencing an issue, causing your reset process to fail.

Choose “Restart Now."

In this case, stop and restart the service to possibly fix your issue.

In the “User Account Control” prompt, choose “Yes.”

In Command Prompt, pop in the following command and press Enter.

Select "Startup Repair."

This command stops Windows RE.

Start Windows RE by issuing the following command:

In System Restore, select “Next.”

Begin restoring your PC by selecting “Finish.”

When you’ve restored your PC, start the reset process.

Select a restore point and choose “Next."
