If you want to change it back yourself, this is the guide for you.
Were going to install one such userscript to revert to the old YouTube layout.
You might be asking yourself, why not use an extension that does the same job?
Installing a Userscript Extension
Userscripts run inside a script extension.
TamperMonkey and ViolentMonkey are two solid options.
Im going to use TamperMonkey since its available on every popular web client.
Go to theTamperMonkey websiteand select your internet tool, then scroll down and click Get from the Store.
Youre now ready to load the userscript that will revert YouTube’s layout.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of people want to get the old YouTube layout.
You have options, however not all of them work perfectly.
Restore Old YouTube works best on my online window.
To follow along, open theRestore Old YouTube userscriptin GreasyFork.
Click Install this Script.
Youll be redirected to TamperMonkey to confirm the installation.
Once thats done, nudge the TamperMonkey extension (nudge the extensions button if you cant locate it.)
verify that the right script is enabled on the Dashboard.
Were ready to test it now.
Open YouTube in your internet tool and the layout should be changed.
If it hasnt, smack the TamperMonkey extension icon and check that the script is active.
There are more than a dozen scripts available that do the trick.
I tested a few of them, and they all worked perfectly.
Hide YouTube Shortsis a good script that Im using.
Go to YouTube and scroll down to see if the Shorts panel is gone.
kill the Rounded Design
Im not a fan of the rounded design that YouTube has now.
Just installthe YouTube Classic userscript.pop pop the dashboard and check that its active.
Now open YouTube and the UI should be boxy.
This script comes with the added bonus of restoring the dislike count under videos.
I recommend this solution if you already have uBlock Origin installed.
It’s also a great option if you don’t want to bother with userscripts.
Install uBlock Origin
The uBlock Origin extension is a popular content blocker.
Its open source and safe.
you could install it on Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Firefox.
Open theuBlock Origin websiteand poke the Get uBlock Origin button.
Then pop pop the uBlock Origin dashboard by clicking the three gear icons on the bottom.
Hop over to the My Filters tab and paste this code into the text field.
Click “Apply Changes.”
When you reload YouTube, it should be reverted to the old layout.
Let them know what you like and dislike about the UI changes.
I also found acommunity on Redditthat promises to keep the old YouTube design alive.
you might find helpful resources and some interesting old YouTube designs there.
