It does this through Saved Messages, which is basically Telegrams iteration of messaging yourself.
These files are then stored in the cloud, and you might retrieve them whenever you want.
However, before you get too excited, there are some caveats.

Alsoand this might be my paranoia talkingIm a little skeptical of anybody offering unlimited free cloud storage.
For example, I recentlyconverted some old CDs into digital mediaand uploaded them to Telegram as a backup.
Fortunately, I discovered a much simpler alternative.
I can send everything to myself on Slack and return to the articles at a later time.
An incidental benefit of doing this is that it helps me keep my work and personal life separate.
Another cool thing about messaging myself on Slack is that I can use it when drafting messages.
Slack is annoying in the sense that, by default, the enter key operates to send messages.
That way, I avoid embarrassing slip-ups.
You should see your name with a (You) next to it.
Select it, and start writing yourself.
Some of these messages are important and require me to remember things.
Another thing I love to do with this feature is forward links to myself.
What I do instead is forward them to myself for later viewing.
That way I have all the things I want to see in one place and it’s more manageable.
The last and perhaps most important use of the message yourself feature on WhatsAppat least to meis file transfers.
To send a message to yourself on WhatsApp, tap the “New Chat” button.
Look for your number listed under contacts, with “Message Yourself” written below.
Tap on it to initiate a chat with yourself.
Additionally, it’s possible for you to save this contact and assign it a name.
I’ve named mine “My Notes.”
