Ubuntu by default includes the Gnome desktop environment, but it’s easy enough to install another window manager.

Xubuntu is a lighter version of Ubuntu that uses Xfce as the window manager.

Install Xfce (Xubuntu) on Ubuntu Linux

Select Xfce and then login.
