From Finder, open your Macs main hard drive directory.
The default name is Macintosh HD, but it can be changed manually.
fire up the Users folder and then fire up the folder for the user profile you use when scanning.
If theres only one user profile available, its that one.
Locate and bring up the Pictures folder.
This is why its necessary to take the specific directory route noted above.

Scroll down the menu bar on the right side of the window and tap on Printers & Scanners.
press your scanners name in the Scanner section of the menu to open a more detailed pop-up window.
hit the Open Scanner button to open your Macs Image Capture app and pull up the main scanning options.
Find the Scan To: option in the menu and bring up the drop-down menu next to it.
Choose a new location to back up your scans and make a note of it.
